I'd like to rave about how great this is, but

Good thing Amazon provides a 30 day return policy. I bought this unit because I had great experiences with my 5 year old subscription based Magellan GPS. But right out of the box the Traffic Link did not work. I called Magellan's tech support to figure out the problem. After 90 minutes of trying to explain to someone across the globe that traffic coverage should be pretty solid in Los Angeles and I was getting no signal - only the message "acquiring signal" they agreed to replace the Traffic Link. About a week later it showed up via FedEx Ground. Once again, excited I plugged the unit in and headed for a 200 mile day trip in LA. NOT ONCE did it ever acquire the signal. I called Magellan and once again spoke to someone across the globe who apparently never heard of Los Angeles or the awful traffic here. They kicked me around for another 90 minutes to arrive at a supervisor who said I had two options - send it in to Magellan for repair - at my cost - or return it to the retailer I bought it from.
If the Traffic Link would have worked with either adapter I would have kept the unit. It's boxed and ready for drop off to return to Amazon.
Be very careful. If it doesn't work out of the box then return it immediately to Amazon. Do NOT mess with Magellan. I wasted 2.5 weeks of waiting and 3 hours on the phone with them. Don't you have better things to do?

I recently purchased one of these units and this past weekend tried it out on a trip from the Pomona, CA area to Fresno, CA and back. All the features worked perfectly. I was really impressed with the "lane assist" feature. It not only alerted me of the proper lane to be in in the LA area, but also in Fresno. Although the integrated "traffic alert" didn't advise me of any traffic issues, (there weren't any on this trip) I did see the "advertisement" displayed on the screen. It is so small and well positioned, it is not a problem at all.

All in all, I think this is a fantastic GPS with a lot of great features for the money.

I also have a Garmin Nuvi 260W that works great also, for a few more dollars, you get a lot more features with the Magellan 1445T.
liked it but it died

We've had ours less than a month and was very satisfied with it and how it told you the exact name of the roads that you needed to go but then it stopped working. Dead. It was a big price to pay for such a short time of use. I would have recommended it up until this happened.
A great GPS... with a catch.

I thought I would spend a little more and get the traffic option. It works, but here's the catch. You have to endure advertisements. Little advertisements for banks, drugstores, etc. scroll across the screen at different times during your route. 5 stars would have been my rating except for this invasion.
Great GPS

This GPS is great and the Amazon price was unbeatable. It also gives names of hotels and restaurants at upcoming exits. Very user friendly. I would definitely recommend.
